Hypermobility

Why Treatment Feels Like a Moving Target.

If you have HSD or EDS, you already know treatment is complicated. What helps one week can set you back the next. Standard protocols weren’t built for hypermobile tissue — and finding a provider who understands that is harder than it should be.

How We Got Here

Our focus on hypermobility developed through clinical experience and learning from practitioners who had spent years working specifically with this population. What that built was a practical understanding of how hypermobile tissue behaves differently — why it responds unpredictably and why standard protocols often need adjustment.

We don’t claim to have all the answers. This condition is complex and still not fully understood. What we can offer is a thoughtful approach built around your specific presentation — not a protocol designed for someone else.

Living Well With Hypermobility — A Different Kind of Goal

HSD and EDS aren’t conditions you resolve. The goal here isn’t to need us less in the way a standard chronic pain patient might. Needling, bodywork, and herbal medicine remain genuinely important — not just stepping stones to something else. What changes over time is the ratio. Less dependence on treatment, more confidence in what your body can handle.

Deconditioning is one of the most common and most difficult challenges in this population. It’s easy to understand how it happens — pain leads to rest, rest leads to weakness, weakness leads to more pain. Addressing it deliberately — at the right pace for your body — is one of the most important things we work on together.

How We Approach Treatment

  • Dry needling and acupuncture — reduce pain, release trigger points, calm a nervous system that’s been working overtime
  • Herbal medicine — supports tissue recovery, but also addresses the broader picture — sleep, digestion, energy, and systemic factors that affect how you feel day to day
  • Movement and corrective exercise — introduced as we progress, building capacity your body can actually hold onto

Treatment is designed to change. Progress here isn’t always linear — but it’s always intentional.
